F.A.Q.
Q. What is the involvement of McDonald's Restaurants in Ronald McDonald House Charities?
A. The Miami Valley McDonald's Co-Op has been supportive of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) since the organization's inception in 1980. Today, local McDonald's owners and operators are still very supportive as board members and committee members.
Through this partnership, McDonald's generously conducts a variety of fundraisers benefiting RMHC at their restaurants, such as their annual Give-a-Hand sales, by donating portions of product sales at certain times of the year, in-restaurant newspaper sales, and via counter and drive-thru donation boxes. This culmination of fundraising activities accounts for approximately 10% - 14% of RMHC's annual organizational revenue.
Q. Is Ronald McDonald House Charities owned by McDonald's Corporation?
A. No. People often assume that Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is owned by McDonald's because of the organization's name. McDonald's owners and operators are partners of the organization; however, RMHC is a private 501(c)(3) non-for-profit, mission-based organization responsible for it's own fundraising activities.
Q. Is Ronald McDonald House Charities owned by Dayton Children's Hospital?
A. No. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) serves families whose children are hospitalized in any local hospital serving pediatrics. However, RMHC is located directly across the street from Dayton Children's and 94% of the families we serve have children receiving pediatric care there. We also serve many families whose preemies and infants are hospitalized at Miami Valley Hospital. Other partnering hospitals include Kettering Medical Center and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Hospital.
Q. How much does it cost families to stay at Ronald McDonald House Charities?
A. Guest families of the Ronald McDonald House may either occupy a guest room for an overnight stay or visit the Ronald McDonald House per our Day Use Program.
There is no fee for overnight stays or day guests. The cost associated with guest use is approximately $100 per night of stay, or approximately $30 for a day visit.
